Our most recent event was a successful clean up of a local public range. Sadly, due to the nature of public ranges without supervision, people made a mess of the place. There were “targets” that had been shot leaving behind splintered pallets, broken glass, and other random items. This doesn’t even mention that as a public range, lead is rarely removed that can lead to the poisoning of the surrounding environment. With the help of volunteers, a significant amount of trash and several pounds of lead was removed. This range is near and dear to us and many other service members who use it frequently. Also some pretty chill vets from different branches like this range as much as us.

For a bit of reference when it comes to the lead removal, yes it’s a dense metal but it’s kind of hard to gather with the very small amounts actually in bullets. It’s also very toxic for consumption, one pound of lead is enough to poison nearly 8 million gallons of water (15ppb). We removed more than 15 pounds of lead.
